Artcar? NYC Public Art Crafted From Body of Smartcar

It may now be about as useful as this crashed example, but here’s one out-of-use Smartcar that isn’t imminently facing the breaker. The artcar was photographed on display on the High Line park in May 2016. It was set to remain until about now – so if you’re wandering the former industrial rail route and happen to catch a glimpse of it, please let us know! Photographer Steven Maginnis wrote on Flickr: “Shown here on the High Line in New York, the body of a Smart car, wrapped in tire treads and with a tree growing through it, is a work of art from Jamaican artist Nari Ward, who based it on trees seen growing through abandoned cars… The Ward sculpture is on display on the High Line until March 2017.”
