Urban Exploration at Rhydyfelin, Wales

Located two miles to the south of Pontypridd, where the wet, rolling Welsh hills tumble down into the River Taff, the village of Rhydyfelin (population: 4,672) might not seem like a natural place for urban exploration. These stunning photos beg to differ. The work of photographer Ben Salter, they capture Rhydyfelin’s abandoned corners in all their atmospheric, crumbling glory. For such a small community, Rhydyfelin boasts a wealth of modern ruins. In this selection, Salter documents everything from rusted old trucks to seemingly-forgotten tunnels.
